Naval Architect

JOB DESCRIPTION

The candidate shall be capable of working with other professional staff for developing of the designs of Marine/Naval Vessels using professional software, including but not limited to:

  • 3D Modeling of hull
  • 3D structural analysis
  • Development of structural drawings as required by the class
  • Development of Structural and Scantling calculations as required by the class
  • Preparing the weight estimate, trim & stability, and seakeeping reports
  • Power & Speed Analysis
  • Developing Ship Detail Design
  • Developing Production drawings and work packages
  • Preparing designs, specifications, and drawings for modification, and repair to the structure, general arrangements, and outfitting of vessels including machinery, piping, and ventilation system

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

An ideal candidate for this position will have:

· Bachelor Degree in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering from a reputable well-recognized university.
· Five (5) years of professional experience in the marine engineering or naval architectural field performing vessel structures or systems design, or as a shipyard project inspector.
· Proficiency in the use of the application of Computer Aided Design (CAD) applications, both 2D and 3D. · Fluency in the use of the MS Office Suite including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
· Effective writing and talking skills.
· Work with other professional staff as required to accomplish assigned projects.

You will assist in the management of multiple projects and priorities and participate with operation teams, foremen, and management teams. As a single point of contact between operations and management teams, you will negotiate, resolve problems, and develop relationships at all levels of the organization as well as with outside vendors and contractors.
