Global Operations
In addition to offering new build and vessels lifecycle sustainment services from our USA shipyards, Swiftships extends its global reach through partnerships and subsidiaries around the world.
For economic and strategic reasons, our clients choose to have vessels constructed, or vessels’ maintenance and repair facilities operated at their locations. Swiftships recognized these needs, and became the major U.S. based maritime company specializing in global co-production programs. Our localization programs support governments in increasing their indigenous industrial base, creating local employment, and bringing technology and know-how to their countries for long-term benefit.
Our approach is highly flexible and tailored to our customers’ needs. We offer our clients different packages based on their objectives and requirements. They may vary from vessel’s design licensing, to full scope assistance in developing production or MRO capability – from planning yard solutions and day-to-day management.
Co-production Yards
During our history, we have partnered with a number of navies and local shipyards to develop co-production yards. An exemplary case in the industry is Swiftships’ partnership with the Egyptian Navy (EN) for the construction of 28-meter Coast Patrol Craft (CPC28). Our scope of work included planning the yard and sustainment site for the Egyptian Navy in Alexandria to construct CPC28 using U.S.-procured materials and in-country labor, under Swiftships’ subject matter expert (SME) support and quality assurance (QA) guidelines from ABS.
The partnership between Swiftships and the EN has successfully progressed over 40 years, with over 50 CPC28 vessels booked for construction until 2027. Additionally, co-marketing activities are beginning to promote vessels in Africa and the Middle East.
Maintenance and Repair Yards
Maintaining vessels at high operational readiness is the primary priority for all operators. With over 50 years of experience, Swiftships offers expertise in preventative and corrective maintenance, complex vessel repairs, and upgrades, as well as refits and modernizations for both naval and commercial platforms.
Our programs of record includes Iraqi Navy fleet management. Swiftships provided planning yard, where IqN Fleet operational readiness stood at a benchmark level of 80%. Our sustainment management team, was on-duty 24/7 and supported IqN mission readiness with corrective and preventative maintenance. Swiftships Quality Assurance (QA) worked with US Navy Port Engineers on-site (in-country) to achieve the highest quality ratings for our customers most efficiently and cost-effectively.
